Speaking at a party rally in Visakhapatnam, Nadda said the BJP today commands a membership of 14 crore people, of which two crore are active, and holds a strong presence in legislatures with 240 Lok Sabha MPs, nearly 1,500 MLAs and more than 170 MLCs across the country.
“With governments in 13 states and the NDA running administrations in 20 states, the BJP represents the widest political footprint in India,” he claimed.
Nadda argued that the Modi-led NDA had proved to be “responsible and responsive”, unlike previous dispensations that, according to him, failed to honour their manifestos or carry out meaningful development.
"Our government works on accountability. The earlier regimes were marked by inaction. They betrayed promises, allowed corruption and let family politics thrive,” he said.
Highlighting the BJP’s ideological commitments, he said the party had delivered on long-standing pledges such as the abrogation of Article 370, construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, amendments to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and Waqf Act, and the abolition of triple talaq.
Turning to economic achievements, Nadda said India was now the world’s fourth-largest economy and was poised to become the third largest. He cited the rationalisation of GST slabs as “a gift from Prime Minister Modi to the nation” and pointed to rising defence exports, India’s emergence as a global hub for medicines and domestic manufacturing of mobile phones, which he claimed had reached 92 per cent.
In the regional context, he underscored the Centre’s support for Andhra Pradesh, noting an allocation of Rs 15,000 crore for the development of the new capital Amaravati and the establishment of premier institutions such as an IIT and IIM in the state.
Attacking the previous YSRCP government, Nadda alleged it was “a regime of non-performance and corruption” and said the NDA under PM Modi was steering the state and country on a path of development.
