A person died and two others were rescued in an injured condition after a cab carrying nine passengers from Uttar Pradesh skidded off the road and plunged into the Chenab river along Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Wednesday.

A rescue operation by the police, the Army and the civil quick reaction team was under way. A team of Army divers was also called to find out the six missing passengers, a police official said. He said the Jammu-bound vehicle fell into the fast flowing Chenab near Dougipulli-Karol in Chanderkote area. — PTI
