This unique activity, held from June 3 to 9, was organised by the 5 J&K Battalion NCC, marking a remarkable milestone in the region’s history.
“The event saw active participation from cadets and associate officers from various colleges across Poonch and Jammu. These young individuals demonstrated exceptional skills, confidence, and bravery in undertaking this challenging activity, which is vital for building leadership, resilience, and national pride,” said Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, Defence spokesperson in Jammu.
He said the adventure parasailing camp was not only a major achievement in terms of activity execution but also held profound symbolic significance. Coming shortly after India’s strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and the following conflict between the two countries the parasailing had symbolic significance.
Col Naresh Kaushik, Commanding Officer, said “The event served as a powerful display of the determination and courage of Indian youth and the successful conduct of this activity, in a sensitive border area facing persistent security challenges, reaffirmed the resolve of the nation to empower its youth and reinforce their confidence.”
The participants underwent rigorous training sessions, which included safety drills, physical endurance exercises and meticulous planning, culminating in parasailing flights.
Under the guidance of their officers, the NCC cadets soared high, capturing breathtaking views of the border landscape while overcoming fears and showcasing resilience. The activity was designed to ensure safety and maximize experiential learning, allowing cadets to challenge their physical limits while developing teamwork and discipline, the spokesperson said. — OC
