Body of a 14-year-old girl was found on Sunday in Ganderbal district, officials said. Local residents found the body in the bushes at Batsar-Sehpora in the district, the officials said. They said the locals informed the police, after which senior police officers of the district visited the spot and assured the locals of speedy investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed grief over the killing of the girl, describing the incident as “inhuman and reprehensible.” Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Chief Minister said such heinous acts shock the collective conscience of society. He stressed that the perpetrators of this crime deserve the severest punishment.
