The J&K residents who had been stranded in different parts of the country slowly started returning to their homes. Today a group of 150 persons, who were stranded in Himachal Pradesh (HP), were received at Lakhanpur by the Kathua district administration.

Deputy Commissioner OP Bhagat said all the people who reached today belonged to the Kashmir valley. They were medically screened at Lakhanpur by a team of doctors and paramedical staff. Besides, they were also asked to fill a self-reporting form at Lakhanpur, indicating their personal information, travel history and whether they were showing any symptoms of Covid-19.

The district administration arranged a fleet of SRTC buses to send these people to their respective districts, where they would be kept under administrative quarantine, Bhagat said, adding that district-wise segregation of travellers was also done and different buses for different districts would be sent directly from Lakhanpur.

The DC, along with SSP Shailendra Mishra also inspected other arrangements put in place at Lakhanpur to restrain the Covid-19 contagion. Strict lockdown guidelines were enforced at Lakhanpur to ensure that no unchecked inward/outward movement, except for essential and medical services happened, the DC said.
