New Covid cases outnumbered recoveries for the second consecutive day as J&K saw 173 new cases while 142 patients recoveries on Friday. A Covid patient died, raising the fatalities to 4,412.

Officials said 23 cases, 19 recoveries and one death were reported from the Jammu division and 150 cases along with 123 recoveries from the Kashmir division.

So far, 3,26,653 people have been infected out of which 3,20,948 have recovered, while 4,412 have succumbed. The active cases are 1,293.

Ladakh recorded three new cases, taking the tally to 20,596 while the active cases came down to 40.

The Union Territory has registered 207 Covid-related deaths. Two Covid patients were cured and discharged from hospitals on Sunday, thereby taking the tally of cured patients to 20,349, which accounts for over 98 per cent recoveries, they said. All three new cases were reported in Leh, they said. A total of 1,709 sample reports in Ladakh, including 706 from Leh and 1,003 from Kargil, were found negative. — IANS/PTI
