Samba police foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in early morning hours on Monday and arrested four bovine smugglers. 11 bovine animals were rescued and three vehicles were seized in the jurisdiction of Samba and Ghagwal police stations.

A police party from Samba, during vehicle checking duty at Mansar Morh, intercepted two load carrier vehicles bearing registration number JK14J-0739 and JK22C-4529 for checking which were coming from Samba side and moving towards Udhampur side via Mansar road.

During checking of these vehicles, six bovines were found inside, which were being transported illegally without any valid permission. All the six bovines were rescued and both the vehicles seized.

The bovine smugglers, identified as Junaid Ahmed and Farooq Ahmed Malik, along with two women were arrested. A case under Section 188 IPC has been registered at Samba and investigation started.

Similarly, a police party from Ghagwal, during vehicle checking duty at Tapyal on National Highway, intercepted a load carrier without a registration number coming from Kathua side. During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. However, driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.

All the rescued bovines have been shifted to a safer place and the vehicle used for the transportation of bovines has also been seized. A case under Sections 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, has been registered at Ghagwal and investigation started.
