Two persons were on Tuesday detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Ramban district.

The accused — Tariq Ahmad Dar of Hollan Banihal and Tanvir Ahmad Choudhury, alias Jimmi, of Banihal — were sent to the Jammu-based Kotbalwal jail, officials said.

They have been accused of attempting to promote enmity between two religious groups and organising ‘bandhs’ on the call of Hurriyat leaders besides “being involved in attacks” on vehicles of Amarnath yatris” in the area a few years ago. — PTI
