Srinagar: Two persons were killed and 25 injured in a bus accident in Doda district, official said on Saturday. The bus skidded off the road and plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge in the district. A senior official said the incident took place near Bhatyas area, when the bus met with an accident. While one woman died at the accident spot, another succumbed at the hospital. Officials said nine injured are being treated at the Government Medical College in Doda. OC

Properties owned by drug peddler attached in Kulgam

Srinagar: Property worth crores of rupees belonging to a suspected drug peddler was attached in Kulgam district on Friday, police said. The properties are located along the national highway in the Qazigund area of the south Kashmir district, they said. A double-storeyed residential house and a residential-cum-commercial building belonging to Abdul Rashid Rather of Bonigam Qazigund were attached under section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act, a spokesperson said. The properties were identified as illegally acquired property and were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, he said. He said Rather is lodged in Kotbhalwal Central Jail, Jammu. PTI

Drug peddler’s assets seized in Rajouri

Rajouri: The property of a drug peddler was attached in Rajouri district on Friday, police said. “A team of Police Station Rajouri has attached a residential complex valuing around 20 lakhs in Thudi area of Tehsil Rajouri. The residential complex belong to notorious drug peddler namely Mehroz Azam,” said a police spokesman. The properties were proven to be acquired through illegal means and proceeds of narcotics trade, he said. The property has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985. PTI

Mother, son killed, six hurt in Poonch road mishap

Poonch: A mother-son duo were killed and six others injured, when a vehicle skidded off the Mughal road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Poonch district on Friday evening, officials said. A car with eight passengers on board was on its way from Surankote to Srinagar. The vehicle skidded off the road at Pannar and rolled down into deep gorge, they said. In the mishap, 34-year-old Ujla Begum and her nine-year-old son Anees lost their lives and six others were injured, the officials said, adding the injured have been hospitalised.
