Security forces have arrested two militant associates in south Kashmir’s Awantipora sub-district, the police said on Friday.

The two arrested militant associates were identified as Sayar Ahmad Shah from Tral and Tanseem, alias Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh, from Awantipora.

“The two were working for the proscribed outfit Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind and the Hizbul Mujahideen from the Tral and Awantipora areas and were involved in providing shelter, support, logistics and passing sensitive information to the terrorists,” a police officer said.

He said incriminating material was recovered from the arrested persons.

“A case stands registered against the arrested persons at the Tral police station and the Awantipora police station under relevant sections of law,” he said.

The duo was arrested a day after three ‘newly recruited militants’ were arrested by forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
