Jammu, November 21

Three persons were injured after under-construction walnut factory collapsed in Kabir Colony of the Talab Tillo area in Jammu.

As per residents, the incident took place at around 7:30 pm yesterday when under-construction factory suddenly collapsed in Ward No 40 of Kabir Colony and injured three persons, including a woman.

Rajinder Kumar, a neighbor, said “Three people were injured in the incident; one of them was critical and shifted to Amritsar. It’s an old walnut factory and the construction work was going on from inside since the past few months but the factory was locked from outside.”

The debris of the factory has severely damaged the property of adjoining houses and parked cars and motorbikes.

“The factory suddenly collapsed, our house also suffered major damages, including vehicles parked inside the house.” A woman said. Meanwhile, the councillor of Ward No 40, Neelam Narotra, has demanded investigation into the incident, how this factory collapsed and also urged the administration to provide compensation to the victim families.

“The injured were taken to Government Medical College (GMC), Hospital, Jammu, immediately after the incident. The factory was running legally or illegal in the area is a part of investigation,” Talab Tillo police post in-charge Vikramjeet said.
