A team of four senior women boxers from Leh district will represent Ladakh in the upcoming 4th Elite Women Open National Boxing Championship to be held from December 2 to 8 at Kannur in Kerala.

All the selected boxers will participate in different categories of the game. District Youth Services and Sports Department’s officer Tsering Tashi said women boxers, namely Farina Iliyas (69 kg), Stanzin Youthog (64 kg), Stanzin Dechan (60 kg) and Stanzin Angmo (51 kg), will represent the UT at the national-level tourney and the team will be accompanied by manager Dechan Dolkar and coach Zia Ul Hassan.

An interactive meeting between the players and with Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh, Saugat Biswas was held at his office.

Biswas asked the players about their past experiences and wished them luck for the championship. He expressed hope that the team would excel in the tournament and bring laurels to the UT. — OC
