Five detained politicians, including three former legislators, were released on Thursday as part of the government’s efforts to initiate political process in J&K.

The released leaders include three from the NC and two from the PDP.

The five leaders who have been released are Altaf Kalloo (ex-MLA, NC), Showkat Ganai (ex-MLC, NC) and Nizamuddin Bhat (ex-MLC, PDP). On December 30, five other mainstream politicians, including two MLAs, were released from detention in the MLA hostel. — TNS
