Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, said a man identified as Narinder Singh was assaulted during a scuffle over a trivial issue in the Miran Sahib area on October 9, leading to his death.

Police arrested the main accused, Tanveer Singh, and his brother Bavneet Singh, within days of the incident. Their father Ranjeet Singh, mother Amrit Kour and sister Kanwal Preet were also arrested following further investigation, the SSP said.

In another case, police cracked the murder of a minor boy, whose body was found in the Sunjwan–Gaziabad area of Bathindi on October 10.

The SSP said the victim, identified as Mohd Zubair, was killed by Mansoor Alam, a Myanmar national who had previously issued threats after his marriage proposal to the boy’s sister was rejected. The accused was arrested and confessed to the crime during sustained questioning, Singh added.
