The Rajouri administration has declared seven villages of the Nowshera sub-district as red zone and five as buffer zone after a woman with travel history from Delhi was tested positive on Friday. Hari village from Poonch district was also declared red zone after a man tested positive for the virus.

The woman, whose husband is an employee with the Ministry of Defence, had come to Kalsian village from Delhi along with the body of her mother-in-law, who died at a Delhi hospital.

“Samples of the persons accompanying the body were taken at Lakhanpur on Sunday and it was declared on Friday that she had tested positive for the virus. “Seven villages including Kalsian, Bhawani, Dhanaka, Manpur, Chowki Handan, Baznova and Ganya have been declared as contaminant. A control room has been set up to look after the grievance/demands of the people of these villages” said Mohd Nazir Sheikh, District Magistrate (DM).
