Facing criticism over increased terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, the administration of UT on Thursday ordered transfers of Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of districts that have witnessed terrorist attacks in recent past.

In a transfer order issued by the J&K Home Department, the government has transferred 38 officials, including SSPs from different areas.

Abdul Qayoom, SSP of Kishtwar, which witnessed brutal killing of two Village Defense Guards (VDG) recently, has been transferred as the Commandant of IRP 2. The district also witnessed killing of a Junior Commissioner Officer (JCO) of Army during a search operation recently.

SSP of Ganderbal, Wasim Qadri, where seven people including non-locals were killed in a terror strike on October 20, has been shifted as SSP, Railways. Besides, Mumtaz Ahmad, who was Poonch SSP, has been shifted to Commandant of IRP 12. Poonch has also witnessed multiple attacks during the past one year. Randeer Kumar, SSP of Rajouri, where many terrorists are allegedly active, has also been shifted as SSP Security headquarters.
