The Administrative Secretary of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Ladakh, Bhupesh Chaudhary, visited the villages of Thang, Turtuk, and Tyakshi during his tour in Nubra Valley.

During his visit to Tyakshi, the Secretary interacted with local villagers and listened to their concerns, particularly regarding the increasing infestation of brown tail moths affecting their crops. He also inspected the affected crop sites to assess the extent of the damage.

In Thang village, he interacted and productive discussion with a progressive farmer and visited their agricultural and horticultural fields. He appreciated the innovative practices being adopted at the local level. While in Turtuk, he visited traditional Rantaks, the water mills and took note of their continued use in the local agricultural ecosystem. The Heads of Departments from the Agriculture and Horticulture Department also accompanied the Secretary during the tour. — OC
