Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, CRPF DG GP Singh on Wednesday conducted a strategic review of preparedness for the Amarnath pilgrimage to ensure its smooth conduct.

The pilgrimage will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 9.

Singh also visited key pilgrimage locations, including the base and transit camps of the pilgrimage, and assessed the on-ground arrangements.

During his visit to Srinagar, the CRPF DG chaired a high-level strategy meet at the group centre with senior officers and commandants of the valley-based units, reviewing the security landscape and operational posture.

Shah, who will arrive in Jammu on Thursday, will hold a security review meeting with top J&K police officials and chiefs of paramilitary forces, sources said.

It will be Shah's first visit to J&K after Operation Sindoor. The meeting will focus on preparedness for the Amarnath pilgrimage and the high alert in the region in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
