Anji Khad rail bridge nears completion
A trial run of a tower wagon was conducted on the India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge at Anji Khad. It will connect Katra and Reasi section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail-Link (USBRL).
Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw posted on X: “Trial run of tower wagon on India’s First Cable-Stayed Railway Bridge at Anji Khad for USBRL Project in J&K”.
After completion, trains from across the country will have a direct access to the Kashmir valley. This is expected to further boost tourism of the region throughout the year. Inspection of the Katra-Reasi section by the Commission for Railway Safety’s (CRS) is also likely to be held in the first week of January. The CRS is the last step before the Railways can plan the operation of trains on the route.
