Leh Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhdeve visited Government School Likir to distribute archery equipment, an initiative supported by the District Youth Services and Sports Department.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Councillor Smanla Dorjey of the Saspol constituency, Chief Planning Officer Tsewang Gyalson, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Tsering Tashi, as well as local leaders such as the Namberdar and former Sarpanch.

Leh DC felicitated the parents of two girls from Likir who excelled in a district-level archery competition and encouraged students and parents to make optimal use of the new equipment.

He emphasised the importance of co-curricular activities, responsible technology use, and leveraging the improved infrastructure and qualified teachers in government schools. He also encouraged the villagers of Likir to use the archery equipment.

Councillor Smanla Dorjey addressed the challenges faced by students in the 7-km stretch of the village, advocating for a school bus to enhance access and increase enrollment. He also proposed the establishment of an archery training camp for students and villagers to nurture local talent and create future opportunities.

Leh DC assured the community that a school bus would be included in the next planning phase and instructed the Youth and Sports Officer to assess the feasibility of the proposed training camp.

Chief Planning Officer Tsewang Gyalson delivered an inspiring speech, motivating students to pursue their goals with dedication.
