The individual was allegedly attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory from Pakistan.
The intruder, identified as Abdul Khalik, was detained after BSF troops noticed suspicious movement near the border fence. A weapon marked “Super Imperial MP-5”, along with a drum magazine and another magazine, was recovered from him.
In a statement, Jammu police said, “One intruder, identified as Abdul Khalik, was apprehended by the BSF along with a weapon near the International Border in the Pargwal area. The individual has been handed over to Police Post Pargwal (Police Station Khour) for further legal action.”
Sources indicated that Khalik is suspected to have links with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit and may have been planning to facilitate entry of a group of terrorists through the International Border. He is believed to be a resident of Rajouri who allegedly exfiltrated to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir a few years ago for arms training.
Sources also suggested that he may have previously assisted infiltration attempts; however, there has been no official confirmation of these claims from either the BSF or the police.
