Srinagar, February 28

The Army organised a music concert on the banks of the Dal Lake in Srinagar on Thursday to encourage young talent.

Singers Jyoti Nooran and Sultana Nooran, who are known as the Nooran sisters, enthralled the audience at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre here.

An Army statement said the music concert was held on the conclusion of the two-day cultural event ‘Chinar Youth Cum Sufi Festival 2020’, which was organised by the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps to celebrate Sufi music, Kashmiri culture and ‘Kashmiriat’.

The event was first initiated under the stewardship of former Governor of J&K NN Vohra. Chinar Corps commander Lt Gen KJS Dhillon graced the finale. He asked the youth to work hard, play hard and respect elders, teachers and parents.

“Today is an evening of Kashmiri culture, Sufiyat and Kashmiriyat. I wish that every Kashmiri comes forth and enjoys the beauty of Kashmir and its soulful music. Though the Nooran sisters are also performing today, my heart goes out to every young Kashmiri and young boys and girls who are creating soulful melodies from their heart,” said Lt General Dhillon.

On the occasion, the young achievers of Kashmir in the fields of arts, culture and sports were felicitated by the dignitaries present, the statement said.
