Army pays tribute to Captain, Naik killed in Akhnoor blast

A wreath-laying ceremony was held by the Army to honour two soldiers who were killed in an IED explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector on Tuesday. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, Lt General Navin Sachdeva, led the solemn ceremony at the Air Force Station Jammu, where the mortal remains of Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi and Naik Mukesh Singh Manhas were honoured.

The ceremony, held at 2 pm, paid tribute to the brave soldiers, Captain Bakshi from Ranchi, Jharkhand, and Naik Manhas from Samba, Jammu and Kashmir, before their bodies were sent to their hometowns for the final rites

Lt Gen. Sachdeva along with other officers laid wreaths at the Tricolour-wrapped coffins of the fallen soldiers. Senior officials from the IAF, police, and civil administration, including Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, ADGP Anand Jain, and Jammu IGP Bhim Sen Tuti, attended the ceremony.

In a statement, the Army honoured the fallen personnel, stating, “In a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, GOC White Knight Corps laid a wreath at Air Force Station Jammu to pay homage to brave hearts Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi and Naik Mukesh Singh Manhas, who made the supreme sacrifice on 11 February in the highest traditions of the Indian Army.”
