Three days after eight passengers travelling in a Tempo Traveller went missing after the vehicle rolled down into the Chenab in Mehar area along the Jammu-Srinagar highway, the Ramban district administration today pressed Army divers into service to find the missing persons.

However, after a day-long rescue operation, no success was achieved due to the high level of water in the river.

“So far, no progress has been made.We had planned to close the gates of Baglihar dam to reduce the level of water in the river, but it couldn’t be done today. Two of the three gates of dam will be closed tomorrow, and then the search operation will be resumed,” Ramban SSP Haseeb-ur-Rehman told The Tribune.
