BJP leader Abdul Hamid Najar who was critically wounded in a militant attack in Budgam on Sunday succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.

Najar, 38, was shot at by militants near the railway crossing at Ompora, Budgam, on Sunday while he was out on a morning walk. He was shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar in a critical condition.

“He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Monday morning,” BJP senior leader Sofi Yousuf said.

Najar was BJP’s OBC Morcha district president, Budgam.

There have been a series of attacks on BJP workers and leaders in the last one month that have left five party men dead. The attacks have triggered a spree of resignations from the BJP leaders in many parts of Kashmir.
