Briefly: Driver killed as dumper plunges into gorge
Banihal/Jammu: A 40-year-old dumper driver was killed when his vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Ramban district on Wednesday, police said. The accident took place around 8 am near Hanjoos on under construction Siran-Sirachi link road in Khari tehsil, said a police official. The driver Mohammad Iqbal Khan, a resident of Chanpa village of Batote, was found critically injured by the rescuers. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the Government Medical College hospital Anantnag.
Terrorist hideout busted in Poonch, 6 grenades seized
Poonch/Jammu: Ahead of the Assembly polls, security forces on Wednesday unearthed a terrorist hideout in Poonch district and recovered six hand grenades, officials said. The hideout was busted by a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles in Dachin top area of Sindhra in Lower Krishna Ghati sector, they said. The officials said the search operation was launched in the area around 3 pm on specific information and was continuing when last reports were received.
