New Delhi, May 20
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave its ex-post facto approval to the Jammu & Kashmir (Adaptation of State Laws) Second Order 2020, issued under Section 96 of the J&K Reorganisation Act, 2019, specifying domicile criterion for employment in the public sector in the UT.
Eligibility for admission to educational institutions
- Jammu: With the issuance of J&K Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020, the UT government has made domicile certificate as an eligibility condition for admission to educational institutions in J&K.
The UT government has ordered that any candidate interested in appearing in any entrance test, conducted by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE), must possess domicile certificate issued under the J&K Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020. TNS
The government, in an official statement, said, “The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its ex-post facto approval for the Jammu & Kashmir (Adaptation of State Laws) Second Order, 2020, issued under Section 96 of Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.”
“This order has further modified the applicability of domicile conditions to all levels of jobs in the UT under the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Services (Decentralisation and Recruitment) Act (Act No. XVI of 2010),” the statement read.
“This Order would apply specified domicile criterion for employment to all posts in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir,” it said, without mentioning any further details.
The Jammu & Kashmir (Adaptation of State Laws) Second Order, 2020, was notified by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on April 3.
Meanwhile, the UT administration had on Monday issued new rules allowing people belonging to West Pakistan, Valmikis, women marrying outside their communities, non-registered Kashmiri migrants and displaced people to get domicile certificate.
