Chargesheet filed against 6 in Shopian attack case

Srinagar, February 3

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the J&K Police on Saturday said it has filed a chargesheet against six persons in connection with a case related to an attack on migrant labourers in Shopian district of south Kashmir last year.

Labourers targeted

• Three labourers from Bihar were injured in a terrorist attack at Gagren, Shopian, on July 13 last year. The labourers were busy in purchasing grocery in a market when they came under attack.
• The next hearing of the case will take place on February 20.

The SIU said the chargesheet had been produced before the court of the NIA court in Kulgam. The accused have been identified as Adnan Shafi, Zahid Ahmad Shah, Hanzil Yaqoob Shah, Danish Hameed Thoker, Hazim Rashid Sheikh and Midhat Ahmad Dar. Hanzil Yaqoob Shah and Danish Hameed Thoker have died. The SIU said the next hearing of the case will take place on February 20.
