Samba police on Monday produced chargesheet in the court against a man accused of murdering his wife, Arti Devi, in Ramgarh area. The challan has been produced against Gurdeep Singh of Nandpur and his paramour from Ferozepur in Punjab.

On October 27 last year, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC was initiated into the death of Arti Devi, a resident of Nandpur.

“Police conducted the inquest proceedings in highly professional manner, got conducted post -mortem through board of doctors, collected evidence and converted inquest into a murder case under Section 302 and 109 IPC in which husband of the deceased, namely Gurdeep Singh and one more female accused were arrested,” an official informed.

According to the chargesheet, the accused husband wanted to eliminate his wife to pave way for his second marriage with his beloved with whom he had an illicit affair.

“Investigating officer has concluded the investigation as offence has been proved against the accused and filed the chargesheet in the court of law for judicial determination,” the official said.

Investigation of the case was conducted by Ramgarh SHO Amit Sangra under the supervision of Vijaypur SDPO Rohit Kumar and Additional SSP Surinder Choudhary.
