A civilian was killed in a CRPF firing on a civilian vehicle in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday. Police said the civilian vehicle jumped at least two checkpoints after which CRPF opened fire.

The incident took place in Narbal Kawoosa on Wednesday morning.

“A civil vehicle fled from 2 nakas in Narbal kawoosa. Upon which CRPF party fired in which one person got injured. He has been shifted to hospital,” SP Budgam Nagpure Amod said, adding, “Further details awaited.”

The injured was shifted to SMHS hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. A senior official at SMHS confirmed the death.

The slain has been identified as Mehraj ud Din of Beerwah Budgam.
