The UT administration today started the process to establish the first-ever separate veterinary university for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by constituting a high-level six-member committee.
Headed by the Vice-Chancellor of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Kashmir, as its chairman, the government has accorded sanction to the re-constitution of a committee of experts who would examine the feasibility for the setting up of a University of Veterinary Science and Fisheries in the UT.
The committee has been told to submit its report along with recommendations within a period of six months regarding the setting of separate Veterinary University.

Taneja, and Dr AK Gahlot, V-C, Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner, Dr S Ayyapam, former DG, ICAR and Chancellor, Central Agriculture University, Imphal, Dr Gurdayyal Singh, V-C, Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar and Dr JK Jena, DDG, Fisheries. — TNS
