J-K Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday resolved to resume the chain hunger strike under the banner ‘Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq’ to reiterate the party’s demand for restoration of complete statehood to J-K. According to the party, it would start the hunger strike on October 18.

A statement said the hunger strike had to be put on hold due to the natural calamity and subsequent loss to life and property in the Chenab valley and elsewhere in Jammu as well as Kashmir region.

The strike will start from October 18 for the remaining districts that could not observe the strike given the loss of life and property due to natural calamity, the party said today.

J-K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra has urged party leaders and district presidents to gear up for the hunger strike under the banner ‘Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq’ to strongly urge the Centre to fulfil its promise with regard to restoration of statehood to J&K.

“We will not rest until the Centre fulfils its promise and restores the dignity and honour of J-K,” Tariq Hameed Karra added.
