Questioning the move to declare the entire Kashmir valley as red zone, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today demanded the safe return of locals stranded outside J&K.

JKPCC president GA Mir said only those areas that had been impacted by Covid should be declared as red or orange zones. “This decision has sent confusing signals among the people in Kashmir, making them more apprehensive and restless.

Apparently, the decision was taken in haste, without knowing the complete ground situation. Even the holy month of Ramzan, besides the agriculture season, has not been taken into consideration,” Mir said in a statement.

“People in Kashmir have already been under strict lockdown for months….declaring Kashmir as the red zone has created more panic and restlessness among them,” Mir added.
