The All-J&K Contractual Lecturers (10 2) Forum on Wednesday staged a protest demanding regularisation of jobs. The protesting lecturers claimed that a number of meetings were conducted by the administration regarding regularisation but nothing had been done so far. President of the forum, Pankaj Sharma said the families of the contractual lecturers were suffering due to wrong policies of the government. He added that various committees were constituted by the government time and again to examine their case but in vain. The forum appealed the Lieutenant Governor to intervene in the matter.

STC begins at IIT Jammu

A five-day short-term course was inaugurated at IIT Jammu.

A short term course (STC) titled “Tribology in machine elements: Fundamentals and recent advances” was inaugurated at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu. Prof Uday B Desai, Former Director, IIT Hyderabad, Prof Satish C Sharma, Professor, IIT Roorkee and Director, IIT Jammu, Prof Manoj Singh Gaur were present during the inauguration. In the 5-day STC, the speakers from IIT Delhi, IIP Dehradun, IITRAM Ahmedabad and IIT Jammu will deliver the lectures covering the domain of tribology. The candidates from various reputed institutions from states across the country are participating in the STC.

The goal scorers for the winner team were Shahid Hunner and Aqib Shafqat. For Cluster University of Jammu, Vishal, Manveer and Kartik scored goals. Arun Malhotra, International Footballer from Jammu was the chief guest in today’s match which was officiated by Suresh Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Dil Bahadur, Vijay Kumar, Dheeraj Menia and Gagan Kumar.

Students of Humanity Public School, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana clinched second runner-up trophy in the inter-school debate competition held at Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu, recently. More than 10 schools of Jammu Province participated in the competition. Samiksha Singh and Suman Yadav, both students of Humanity Public School finished second in the competition. Principal of the institution, Gaurav Charak and Vice-Principal, Anku Charak have congratulated the students for their achievement.

Dr Sanjay Sharma, faculty, School of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) has delivered a talk in the fourth international and 19th national conference on machines and mechanisms (inacomm-2019) organised by the School of Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, Himachal Pradesh from December 5 to 7.
