Terrorism and terrorists should be dealt with through stringent legal action.”
Bhat, who hails from South Kashmir, said Kashmiris live in a “complex situation” and that no parent wishes to see their child die young. He stressed that family members of militants cannot automatically be held responsible for their actions, adding that a terrorist’s father cannot be judged on the same scale as his son.
Highlighting the service of Kashmiri doctors across the country, he said generalising or branding an entire community because of an individual’s actions is unfair.
Calling for an end to what he termed the “blast policy,” Bhat urged authorities to stop demolitions and instead adopt “stricter, more effective measures” to combat terrorism.
