Discussion on motion of thanks on L-G’s address commences

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today commenced its discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s address, which was tabled by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather before the House.

The motion, moved by Mubarak Gul, was seconded by Ghulam Ahmad Mir.

During the debate, Mubarak Gul emphasised that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had given an overwhelming mandate to the current government. He further called for the restoration of statehood, asserting, “Restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir is our right.”

Ghulam Ahmad Mir expressed gratitude to the people for their faith in the electoral process, acknowledging their large participation in the Assembly elections. He urged legislators to utilise the time in the House judiciously.

Sham Lal Sharma, participating in the discussion, stressed the importance of strengthening institutions and working collectively towards that goal.

Sajad Ahmad Shaheen praised the government for presenting a comprehensive roadmap for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the need for improvements in healthcare and educational infrastructure within his constituency and urged all legislators to unite for the restoration of statehood.

Farooq Ahmad Shah, in his address, emphasised the need to uphold the dignity of the House and focus on the welfare of the people. He called for the creation of policies to promote sustainable tourism in Gulmarg, foster industrial growth and create employment opportunities for the youth.

Rameshwar Singh also contributed to the discussion, urging the government to frame a policy for the regularisation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) employees. He further called for greater job opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and swift action on illegal mining activities.
