MIER College of Education on Monday organised the Research Awards for 2019 to felicitate its faculty members. Prof Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu was the chief guest and Dr Rekha Koul, Dean International, Faculty of Humanities, Curtin University, Australia, was the guest of honour. Dr Arun K Gupta, chairperson, MIER, and Dr Renu Gupta, vice-chairperson, MIER, presided over the function. Dr Nishta Rana, Head, Centre for Educational Research, presented the research report for 2018-2019 during which the faculty published over 40 research papers in national and international journals, conference proceedings, and book chapter.

The Vikalp is a programme run by student volunteers of the SMVDU to extend basic education to the under-privileged children from nearby villages.

Month-long celebrations conclude

The Vikalp, a students’ initiative, concluded its month-long celebrations of Children’s Day in the Sanskriti kaksha at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) on Monday. The Vikalp is a programme run by the student volunteers of the SMVDU to extend basic education to the under-privileged children from nearby villages and to the children of the construction workers on the campus. The chief guest of the event was the Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof Ravindra Kumar Sinha.

BGDC wins boxing meet

Winners of the rangoli competition at Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, on Monday .

Students of Government Degree College (GDC), Jindrah, won the overall Inter-collegiate Boxing Championship by winning 2 gold, 3 silver and bronze medals. The GDC, Jindrah, organised a function on Monday. Earlier, the college women team won the runner-up trophy in boxing in sports fest 2019 organised by the University of Jammu. During the programme, Principal of the college, Prof Kalpna Kesar, appreciated and motivated the students for commendable performance and boosted their morale for upcoming events.

Rangoli competition

Cadets of Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura Mangotrian, Jammu, celebrates NCC Day on Monday.

Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, on Monday organised an Inter-School Rangoli Competition. Students from different schools participated in the competition which began with the lighting of traditional lamp. The competition was conducted under the supervision of main in-charge Nirmal Sharma, middle school in-charge, Madhuri Malhotra and coordinator of Class VI, Ramanjeet Kour.

Workshop at JU

The inaugural function of the national workshop on Data Analytics commenced at University of Jammu (JU) on Monday. The workshop will be held for one week with effect from November 25 to 30, 2019. About 85 participants from different parts of the country including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh besides the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the workshop. Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, (CLUJ) was the chief guest on the occasion.conference proceedings, and book chapter.
