A team of the Revenue Department in Thanamandi tehsil in Rajouri district, under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the tehsildar, retrieved 15 kanals of the state land which had been encroached by three persons.

Nearly 15 kanals and 11 marlas had been allegedly under the illegal possession of Abdul Ghani, Munir Hussain, sons of Kaka and Mohd Bashir, son of Jamaldin, in Phangai village, said Mukhtar Sheikh, SDM.

“In the past, many attempts were made to vacate the land, but every time, revenue teams were sent back by the encroachers/ villagers without any action,” said the tehsildar.

The matter was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, and after a long legal process and verifications of documents, the land was, on Tuesday, retrieved by officials of the department.

Sources said the SDM had also advised the encroachers not to interfere in the matter again, otherwise legal action under the law would be initiated against them.
