Five months after the bodies of three persons were found near a stream in the Malhar area of Kathua, family members of the victims have alleged that the police investigation into the case has been slow. The deceased included Varun Singh (15) of Dehota, his uncle Yogesh Singh (32), and maternal uncle Darshan Singh (40).

At the time the bodies were discovered in Ishu Nallah on March 8, the family members claimed that the deaths were the handiwork of terrorists.

A probe was ordered into the deaths of the trio, but the findings have not yet been made public.

Addressing a press conference today, Chamail Singh, father of the deceased Varun, said the administration and political parties who supported him after the incident were now absent. “No one is ready to inform me about what happened to my son and other family members. The police have informed me that the FSL report has been received, but its contents have not yet been shared with me,” Singh said.

“It has been five months, but it seems the authorities are not giving any importance to the case in which three people were killed by terrorists,” Singh alleged. Shockwaves were sent across the region when the three bodies were found in the stream.

“We were going to a wedding, and the three of them were ahead of us. They suddenly vanished, and their mobile numbers were unreachable. They were definitely kidnapped by terrorists and then pushed to their deaths into the stream from a cliff,” claimed Chamail.
