Northern Railways on Tuesday said its Jammu division has decided to operate a special Vande Bharat train (Train No. 02439/02440) between New Delhi and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station (Udhampur).

The decision has come due to the increasing number of passengers caused by frequent flight cancellations.

A statement said on Tuesday that Jammu Division of Northern Railway operates special trains in emergency situations for the convenience and safety of passengers. “Currently, due to the increasing number of passengers caused by frequent flight cancellations, the Jammu Division has decided to operate a special Vande Bharat train (Train No. 02439/02440) between New Delhi and Udhampur,” the statement said. This train will operate from December 12 to 14 to provide a safe and affordable option for stranded passengers. Providing details about train No. 02439 New Delhi to Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station, officials said this train would depart from New Delhi at 6 am and arrive at Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) railway station at 2 pm. En route, the train will stop at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi and other railway stations.

About train 02440 Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station to New Delhi, Railways said this train will depart from Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) railway station at 3 pm and arrive in New Delhi at 11 pm. En route, the train will stop at Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt and other railway stations.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said this special Vande Bharat train will have 20 coaches. Passengers are requested to obtain accurate train information from the official Indian Railways website or NTES before commencing their journey.
