The four were arrested during a cordon and search operation(CASO) from the Pethkoot area of Beerwah, Budgam. The police identified the four as Shakil Ahmad Wani, Showkat Ahmad, both residents of Pethkot Beerwah, Aqib Maqbool Khan of Chedbug Budgam and Ajaz Ahmad Dar of Cherwani Chrarsharief.

“This group was associated with the banned terror organisation, LeT, and was involved in providing shelter and logistical support to active terrorists in the area,” a police officer in Budgam said.

During the CASO, some ammunition, including AK-47 rounds (24), five detonators and other incriminating material have also been recovered, he said. The police have registered a case against the four. — TNS
