Ten gelatin sticks along with detonators were seized from a bus in Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu, today. Increasing the vigil, officials carried out intensive checking of vehicles across the region. The police had installed a checkpoint where the bus (JK02CV4995), ferrying passengers from Doda to Jammu, was signalled to stop for a routine checking. Upon being searched, 10 gelatin sticks, five detonators and a wire were found.
A police spokesperson said a bomb disposal squad was called and the explosive device was detonated through a controlled mechanism. A case under relevant sections has been registered at the hajjar Kotli police station.
Sources said security men found a suspicious packet having a marking of ‘super power 90’ in the luggage carrier of the bus that contained the gelatin sticks.
The recovery holds significance as the 43-day Amarnath pilgrimage is set to start on June 30 and the security forces have been holding regular checking of vehicles across the UT.
