Havildar injured in Operation Sindoor succumbs to injuries

A soldier who was injured during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan and had been undergoing treatment has succumbed to his injuries, the Army said on Friday.

Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh had been admitted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur after sustaining grievous injuries during the operation.

“GOC and all ranks of White Knight Corps pay heartfelt tribute to braveheart Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during Op Sindoor. After sustaining grievous injuries, he battled valiantly during treatment at Command Hospital and passed away on June 6, 2025,” an official said.

He added, “Singh’s unwavering courage, sense of duty and sacrifice will forever remain etched in our hearts. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of profound grief.”

Meanwhile, in another development, four personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) who were injured during Operation Sindoor amid Pakistan’s shelling along the International Border (IB) have recovered.

On the completion of one month of Operation Sindoor, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jammu, Prabhakar Joshi, said at a press conference that the four BSF personnel fought valiantly and had suffered grievous injuries which required prolonged medical treatment.

“A Sub-Inspector, Vyas Dev, who is about to retire in six months and was severely injured, continued to fight. He used his Light Machine Gun (LMG) to target the enemy drones that were being used to target the BSF posts. Unfortunately, his leg had to be amputated by the doctors,” said the DIG.

The DIG added that Pakistan had used artillery fire along with drones to attack BSF posts on the border. Vyas Dev hails from Himachal Pradesh.

Two BSF personnel—Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz and Constable Deepak Chingakham—were killed in action during the operation at the location where Vyas Dev was engaged in fighting.

Another BSF personnel, ASI Brij Mohan, suffered a serious facial injury when a drone exploded near him. Mohan has since recovered following treatment.

Constable Bhupendra Vajpayee sustained an injury to his leg. He played a key role in evacuating Imtiyaz and Deepak along with an Army personnel who also died in action.
