There are two districts in the UT of Ladakh, namely Kargil and Leh.
Akhoon alleged that whenever Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta visits New Delhi and meets Union Ministers, “he talks only for Leh district and ignores the Kargil district”.
Giving an example of such discrimination, Akhoon said that Kavinder met the Union Health Minister JP Nadda but did not raise with him the demand for a mini-AIIMS for Kargil. “We had given representations regarding the hospital as we are landlocked during the winter season,” said Akhoon.
He further alleged that with proper air connectivity to Leh district even during winters, “Kargil is left behind in medical facilities”.
