To keep a check on cases related to age and document fraud, the Hockey J&K has initiated the process of online registration of players on the newly launched Hockey India portal “Hockey India Members Units Portal’.

Hockey India on September 6 had launched “Hockey India Member Units Portal” which would enable Hockey India registered member units to shift from the existing manual system to digital system for the registration of players and officials, online application for the temporary and permanent player transfers, submission of documents for future national championships, including the team entry form, submission of participation fee etc.

Taran Singh, general secretary of Hockey J&K said, “yes, we are collecting information from players of different clubs both in Jammu Division and Kashmir Division. There are little over 30 clubs registered with Hockey J&K comprising 700-800 players”.

“Till now, we have registration only137 players, including boys and girls, due to snapping of Internet services in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir post abrogation of Article 370. Instead of downloading information online regarding players, we are collecting form of players from different districts and then sending them through courier to Hockey India office for the registration because of suspended UInternet services in J&K”, he added.

“Right now, we are receiving entries from the players hailing from districts of Jammu Division only. Once all are registered then we will start the registration of players from Kashmir Province”, Taran Singh maintained.

When asked about the benefits of online registration of players on the portal, the Hockey J&K general secretary said, “Once a player is registered and approved under the Hockey India Member Unit Portal, he/she will be issued with their Hockey India ID card. Only the players who are registered under Hockey India Member Unit Portal will be allowed to compete in any of the future Hockey India National Championships. In the recently held hockey tournament at KK Hakku Stadium, all the participating players of different clubs were given the ID cards”, he added.

Taran Singh stated that after approval of a player by Hockey India, each registered player is valid for his entire career. “Post that the player will not be able to change information such as date of birth and father’s name thus curbing age fraud cases, document fraud cases etc”, said Taran Singh.
