The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly condemned the attack on Bani MLA Dr Rameshwar Singh, who was manhandled by a group of protesters when he attempted to visit the families of three individuals whose bodies were found near a waterfall in Kathua.

“This is a genuine concern for all of us, which the members have raised. We condemn the attack and it should be thoroughly investigated,” said Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather in the Assembly. The issue was initially raised by Dr Rameshwar Singh and later supported by other MLAs, at the start of the session. Singh demanded an inquiry into the incident.

On Saturday night, the Bani MLA was attacked by protesters when he visited the sub-district hospital at Billawar to meet the families of the three deceased civilians.
