Police officials said Arshad Ahmad Mir, a resident of Sehpora in Ganderbal, was moving in a suspicious manner near a military vehicle in Khann area. “Hybrid” terrorist is a police coinage for those not listed as terrorists in police records but suspected to be associated and involved with terrorists.

The officials said Arshad tried to escape when the police challenged him, but was overpowered. An FIR under the UAPA and the Arms Act has been filed. The police claimed Arshad was an associate of The Resistance Front and his name had surfaced in several cases. He was alleged to be involved in the recruitment of his brother Lateef Ahmad Mir, who was arrested earlier under the UAPA, into terror ranks. — TNS
