IIT-Jammu selected for PM''s research fellowship scheme

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jammu, is among 38 prestigious institutes selected across the country for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) scheme.
The scheme will be for the IIT-Jammu students enrolled at the Jagti campus in Nagrota.
The PMRF scheme has been designed for improving the quality of research in various higher educational institutions across the country. The scheme seeks to attract the best talent into research, thereby realising the vision of development through innovation.
The Union Human Resource Development Ministry recently announced some relaxations for the students.
The scheme was announced in the Budget 2018-19. The institutes which can offer the scheme include all IITs, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, some top Central universities and the National Institute of Technology which offers science and/or technology degrees.
The candidates of the IIT-Jammu will be selected through a rigorous selection process and their performance will be reviewed suitably through a national convention.
Sources said the IIT-Jammu recently started online classes for its students through the learning management system to ensure no further academic loss due to the lockdown. It had suspended all classes and examination in view of the pandemic.
