In Rajouri, mysterious illness claims 9th ‘victim’

A pregnant woman from Badhaal village in Rajouri district became the ninth suspected victim of a mysterious illness, which experts are still investigating. Razeem Akhter was five months pregnant and had previously lost three children Ashfaq (12), Ishtiyaq (7) and Nazia (5), to the same unidentified disease.

Razeem was brought to the local hospital in Kotranka . Her condition worsened and she was transferred to Government Hospital in Rajouri where she died on Monday. A post-mortem examination has been conducted to determine the cause of her death.

The mysterious illness had initially raised concerns about food poisoning after the first deaths were reported on December 8. However, investigations revealed that food poisoning was not the cause, and the deaths were attributed to unknown factors.
