Militants fired at Mohammad Shafi Dar, a resident of Batamaloo, at about 8 pm at SD Colony on Saturday. Dar (45) received critical gunshot injuries and was immediately shifted to the SMHS hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to injuries at the hospital during the night, officials said.

Dar was the second person killed by militants in the city on Saturday. A few hours before that incident, militants had fired at one Majid Ahmad Gojri, a resident of Chattabal, Srinagar, at Karan Nagar. Gojri succumbed moments later. In the third attack on the same day, militants had thrown a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force bunker but it missed the target. — PTI
